Back of the shop.
I was often given a note to take to my Dad who worked there from my Mum which I disliked doing as there was always lots of wasps flying around because of the dried fruit.

Thanks for adding this set of photos, Joyce.
I see from memories previously added on the site that youfamily's shop is warmly remembered.
The previous author places the shop at 495 Green Lanes. Is that correct? This is now part of Yasar Halim. This store opened in 1981. Did your family sell to them?
Yes the shop was at 495 but it wasnt my families shop my Father was an employee. Starting there pre ww2 and after from the mid 1950s untill late 60s. I cant remember when the shop closed.
Any names to add to those faces Joyce ? Assume all local lads.
From left to right. Second man Len Wilkinson (My Dad) after that not too sure stretching the grey matter fourth might be Charlie ( dont know surname) and fifth might be Richard again dont know surname. My brother who is older than me used to work there on a Saturday so he might have a better recollection. I will ask him next time i see him.
Having spoke to my brother (Pete) who worked in the back of the shop when he was about 14 (Early 60s) on a Saturday and school holidays he remembers the faces but cant recall names apart from the boy on far right who he thinks was Richard Ackworth. (Known as Dick). The shop was owned by Jack Newman who they all called Mr Jack when they spoke to him. He also remembers Jacks son Malcom and Aunt Ida. My father Len sometimes went with Jack to pick up the crates of fruit from the docks. Friday was cleaning day when no fruit was washed or packed and the whole of the back of the shop was scrubbed down. Pete remembers going to the cafe next door for the lunchtime sandwiches. Malcom played football with Len for the Hertford United football club. As he was quite young and now not so thats about all he can remember.
Joyce, did your brother go to South Grove Secondary, 60-64 ? Or Woodlands Junior School, 55-60 ? That Wilkinson surname sounds familiar school names to me.
HI John. My brothers Pete, John, Terry and myself all went to Woodlands Park Infants and Junior school. My three brothers went on to South Grove so there were a lot of Wilkinsons about. My brothers were born 1947, 1948, and 1952 respectively so possibly Pete or John you might remember.
