Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Flooding at the Mayes Road-Blenheim Road junction, c1907

The first photo I've ever seen of Blenheim Road. This part of Mayes Road is now under Shopping City.

I wonder ii this wa a shot of the same flood that inundated the High Road in the shot I added last week.

The beer shop on the right hand corner is also in this photo.

The houses behind must be Caxton Road, Strange that I cant remember them being a 1st & 2nd floor, apart from the United Dairy stables but they wouldn't be visible as they were more towards Mayes Road.

My grandfather and great grandfather lived in Blenheim Road. They were costermongers and had a fruit and veg stall at the corner of Blenheim, getting their produce from early morning markets up in central London, and later had a delivery van and delivered locally up until 1960 (see my profile pic). Never seen a photo of the costermonger carts in Wood Green high road though.

Thanks for sharing, Louise. The photo I added last week (linked above) was pointed in the right direction, but due, I imagine to the flood, no carts were present. I can't place having seen a photo of the carts, but it may just have been caught in a shot somewhere.
