Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Alderman's Bridge, across flooded Wood Green High Road, c1910

The road under Alderman's Bridge, (the railway bridge that used to run across Wood Green High Road), had been a one of the local spots badly impacted by flooding after heavy rain ever since the area was built up.

This photo can be dated to a date after 1905 by the presence of Ormond's drapers at 187-189 High Road. Next to Osmond's, just after the footpath to Station Road was Walter Knight's Wine Merchant.

Tha dating evidence suggests the possibility of the image having been taken during the particularly bad floods of 1907. (Click tags for more).
