Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This photo was one of many taken by Gardens resident and colour photography pioneer Arthur E Morton.

The photo's owner, Ben Franks, wrote to me "The photo is a Lumiere Autochrome (the system using coloured potato starch granules as a colour screen). I think that it has suffered from some degree of colour shift from age which so many autochromes have."

Below is another photo taken by Morton at around the same time as the Finsbury Park one,  using the same process. As Ben pointed out, it has retained its colour better and more evenly.

It was shot in Birlingham, Worcestershire.
