Those railing bring back some terrible memories. Why we were so lazy and took such insane risks! I was no better. I just never fell onto the spikes! At age 13 or so I stood holding the hands of a friend who was impaled. Two men came along and lifted him off. As a result he bled to death in front of us. He was a fool and so were they. Johnnie Hales survived because the firemen cut the spike and he went to the Prince of Wales for them to remove it safely.

A bus shelter that might actually keep the rain off if you were waiting, as opposed to today’s ones that are more hole than shelter (cf the similar useless ones on GL Overground station)!

I remember the incident when the youngster got killed having fallen on the spikes at Ducketts common.  My Mum made me promise never to climb over them again, terrible. On a lighter note, if the bus shelter is so good , why is nobody sitting in it?

Apologies for the fuzzy picture. This is a problem with or platform hosts which were trying to get them to correct it. In the meantime, I've added a second image at the original resolution.
