Stanley Kirk (b.1906) belonged to a large family. He was the third child (and second son) of Robert Kirk (1858-1931), a solicitor's clerk, and his second wife, Alice Sherman (b.1872), and had four sisters and three brothers, as well as seven half-brothers and a half-sister, his father's children by his first wife, Eleanor Amelia Leahair (1858-1900) - making a total of fifteen siblings. In addition to 134 Effingham Road, their address in 1917, the family also lived at 22c Alfoxton Avenue in West Green where Robert Kirk died.
