Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Town Hall Square, Crouch End, c1970

Before the succession of short-lived restaurants in the old Eastern Electricity building. Difficult to imagine cars running down that road that is now a pedestrian area.

Wasn't the gas showroom on the other side?

It was. Gas one side, electricity on the other.

How convenient !

As it happens, yes it was, very convenient. And then all the shops, butchers, green grocers, bakers, fishmonger a small Budgens and so on. You could get almost all that you needed there at that time. And a lovely old Woolworths for your other bits and bods.

According to the bus, that picture was taken between 1969 -72?

You still can get all you need there. Fishmonger, baker, two butchers, even two ironmongers and about 1000 coffee shops. I didn't say it was cheap there, though

Morley's - the butchers has closed leaving only one actual butchers left. There are 2, yes 2 cinemas though !
