Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

About 500m of new road. Cost: £5m. Will form back bone of Heartlands area. Not much traffic whilst there although did see speeding police van!

Heartlands High School will be on land to the left, sandwiched in between road and railway line, which is behind those trees. Hope the windows will be triple glazed!

I use it to cycle down because apart from the odd complete speed freak it is relatively traffic free. You can go through the tunnel to the NRV and Alexandra Park (but not in your car!).

Don't you just love all that security fencing. Very 'trading estate' at the moment.

Nobody seems to know its there. so residents have taken action to inform motorists of this empty road and get the cars off their streets. Story here

"We do not support anyone attempting to divert traffic without authorisation as this can cause accidents.''

Strange statement! Thanks for this Liz. Recently I came across a huge backlog of traffic on Hornsey Park Rd which would have taken 1/2 an hour to get through but then ... I remembered the 5 million pound road. Bliss, not a soul on it and we were out of a huge jam in no time. :)

Very forward thinking of LBH. I know places where they build their housing estates and forget about schools or roads. (Admittedly most of those places were in Celtic Tiger Ireland. Fortunately, most of those houses are lying empty, so no sweat about infrastructure details.)

We went down this the other day, as a result of the residents' action Liz mentions. Spookily quiet, was great - would definately use this now rather than Hornsey Park Rd. To be honest, am amazed that it has had so little attention or attempts to divert traffic into it.
