Apparently, during schol trips to the village in the 1950s, teachers would tell children that it was inhabited by Fairies!
The village was vandalised with paint being poured paint over it and was removed soon after, never to be restored.

Bring back the model village!
We used to walk with mum and dad up to Finsbury Park to see the model vilage quite often as toddlers in the 50s.
Hmm so did we. We called them 'the little houses'
use to visit there every sunday with my mum and dad late 60's
What a shame it was destroyed I hope the person is proud of what they've done, a piece of history gone forever
Love the kiddies fashions. We have photos somewhere of me dressed in a similar way as the lad from the same era, and they always seem to be a hoot to the present generation. What hope did I have when my Dad took me to Kirwans in 1967 for my first pair of Jeans and he bought me, despite my protests, black with gold stitching, informing me I would stand out from the crowd who all wore blue, discuss.
