Very impressive Hugh.  Google street view shows that the facades in this street are now obscured by plane trees although the library building is quite clear.  I wonder whether these are the same trees that appear in the photo as slender saplings.

Hi Hugh, Can I get hold of a copy of this picture? We (Friends of Stroud Green and Harringay Library) are in the process of setting a 'local history wall' at the library and this would be a shoe-in!

If you click View full size below the picture, is that good enough for you to use? I don't have any bigger. I'm sure Clive can sort out the printing for you.

One of my favourite childhood memories; going to the library "over the bridge". A lovely building.

Is that a W5 I see...

I remember that library with its broadsheet newspapers hanging over wooden rods on the right and little -light green I think-'pocket' library tickets date stamped on lending a book and a fine if returned late. They put a book 'tongue' in the pocket and kept them and put it back in the book on returning it and gave you your ticket back. Only 2 books at a time I think in those days.
