I assume that it's come along a bit since this photo was taken.

Aha! Your recollections of the 'changing rooms' brings it all racing back so they must have been in use by the time I swam (?) there in the 48-53 period. And here it was that MB performed to our mixed delight and embarrassment. By the way, I doubt at that age she had much in the way of dangly bits as someone referred to them!
My first swimming lesson was September 1959. Final year at St. Aidans Junior School on Monday mornings. First lesson was o.k. just to get used to the water but as it got more advanced I got more scared so invented excuses not to go. Remember still the instructor'sname -Mr. Cornell. Finally restarted lessons when at North Harringay after years of excuses I took the plunge (not literally!) during my last few weeks prior to leaving (6th. form and the school was renamed Priory Vale by then). Finally learnt to swim (just about!) in three half-hour lessons. Remember Lydia's description of the footbaths, Verruca paradise and cold public floor walk.
