Near the junction with Fonthill Road. Hasn't changed a bit really.

Where is this? I can't quite work it out.
It looks more like Finsbury Park to me - looking east up Seven Sisters Road from the crossroads by the George Robey/Rainbow theatre.
Yeah, it looks like the bottom of Fontil Road doesn't it?
Good golly - you're right. I'm sorry. I was sent it as WG HIgh Road and assumed it was by the now long gone railway. But you're right. It's Seven Sisters Road near the junction with Fonthill. Not my day today, but at least I can say with hand on heart this is the first location I've misdescribed in an old photo on HoL ------- unless of course, you know different. I'll change the title.
No worries Hugh! I really enjoy all the old photos you post on the site & it was fun puzzling over this one -maybe worth posting some in the future as 'where is this?'
... and it's actually 1960s not 50s . In fact, late October, Early November 1961 - If the yellow 'Buses for Trolleybuses' poster on the trolleypole is anything to go by.. one of which I have in my collection and can be seen here: http://www.isarsteve.de/?p=845
The L3 Trolleybus, seen here just passing the Finsbury Park turning loop, was delivered during the Blitz and worked at Poplar (PR) Depot on 565, 567, 569 & 665 routes until 11/11.1959 when the Commercial Road Trolleybuses were withdrawn. Being one London's youngest Trolleybuses still in service, it was transferred West to work from Finchley (FY) Depot on routes 609, 517/617, 521/621(through Harringay) until 1961, when it was once again transferred, this time to Fulwell (FW) for the last few months of operation in London on routes 601, 602, 603, 604, 605 & 667 (Withdrawn nearly 50 years ago, on 08/05.1962)
I'm going back to bed.
haha.. a bit of 'correction' never did anyone any harm
It's been a bit of a day of it, Stephen.
Never mind tomorrow's another day..
I never let the (IMO) daft comments I sometimes read here get me down..
But there again, the whole business isn't registered in my name..
Perhaps we should give cats a miss for a while and concentrate a while on trams, trains, buses & politics
