Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

The recent discussion on Ward's Corner on HoL made me add this shot, taken ca. 1914.

Two LCC 'covered' trams can be seen.. one on the 59 to Waltham Cross (today's 259) and the other standing on the terminal spur from the High Road into Seven Sisters Road. This fell into disuse in later years, but in this shot a 47 tram is seen waiting to return to 'Docks' via Aldgate - this routing is covered by today's 67 bus. The open top tram is a Middlesex County Council MET tram working no doubt from Stamford Hill to Wood Green via Bruce Grove.

All the buildings seen here (and the toilets) survived unscathed until 1970.

'The Corner' picture house became a bingo hall for it's last few years and as far as I can remember was demolished in 1970/71.
