My 2 Brothers in this one, there were 5 of Us, & 5 Girls !!, Mum made the Team = 11 !!!. when Dad Died.
Is that outside Coburn & Hughes ?
Sure is Alan, was Strand M/cycles, then Coburn & Hughes, was my 1st Job there as apprentice m/cycle mechanic !!.
£4-10 pence a week, did not last too long !!. Sitting on 1gallon Petrol can, taking off clutch casing. Put casing behind me right side, p/can slipped from under me. Fell back arms out stretched, right wrist hit c/casing & sliced through my tendons !!. 2 weeks in hos, redundant !!.
Next job apprentice plumber, for Grant & Sons off Queensbridge Road Hackney. Traveled UK & Ireland Installing Laboratory test Plumbing, With Micky Dixon the Plumber. Who was a very good friend from Strand M/cycles!!.
Next Job after quitting the plumbing !!, was working for Lea Bridge Demolition, with the Haley boys. Brian,Terry, & think it was Alan although not sure ??. Their yard was on the Edmonton Industrial Estate. Some times working as a Top Man, with the pick axe, & sledge hammer. When taking down brick work in tight places !!. But most of the time driving a truck, delivering 2nd hand stock yellow Bricks !!.
Great days & memories !!, Could go on !!!!!!.
Cheers Brian.
