Never forgotten.   We lived in Harringay Road so the Colly was our very own local.  Our introduction as little 'uns to Saturday morning pictures at around 4/5 years old. The side doors exited straight on to our road. Sixpence entrance rings a bell.  But never witnessed "flashing", Richard ! Then, when a couple of years older,  we upgraded to The Ritz, right posh in comparison and became members of The ABC Kids Club.   That song is etched into me and makes me smile warmly whenever heard or discussed.  Such brilliant entertainment for maybe what, 3 hours ?   And then as mid teens we upgraded again to the Odeon/Gaumont Wood Green.  Different all together.   I only went to pop/rock concerts at the fabulous Astoria.   Great area to grow up in.

Eileen Corbett you brought back such memories of going to the pictures with Mum and Dad.  We lived in Green Lanes above the shops just around the corner of Allison Road squashed between the corner shop and the chemist.  Dad would send me around the corner into Allison Road where on the wall was advertised the films for that particular week.  We would pick one and either go to the Regal, Gaumont or the other cinema by Clissold Park (cannot remember name).  And like you would walk home after and get our chips.  Such good times.  Thanks for the memories.  A little later than you in the 1950's.

When I went to this cinema in the 60's it was the ABC. I seem to remember ti being 6d on a Saturday morning then. I also recall that one Saturday, during the "intermission" they introduced  "The Dave Clarke Five" who played their new single and then left. I think we were all a bit young to really appreciate them and when I went home and told my Mum about it She said it must have been a film and stop telling fibs. Interesting that they were targeting such a young audience for their music.
