So many of those names mentioned above strike a chord in me.

The record shop (which I don't think was Berry's ?)  was fitted out with listening booths. I bought my very first records there and remember cycling from South Grove Sec Mod School one morning to buy The Beatles Please Please Me on its issue date. Me and mates spent hours in there just listening and chatting.

I bought a drum kit from Berry's in 65 on HP paying I think 30 bob a week. A friend from my road, Harringay Road, worked there. He went on to fame as drummer in The Strawbs, Richard (Hud) Hudson.

What a grand looking place that Frith shop is/was !

Duvall's, I was football mad (Spurs supporter) and desperately wanted a Spurs kit for Christmas 57.  Mum took me up there couple of days before the big day to get fitted out....sold out ! My next choice kit was West Ham. Nothing.  Chelsea, nothing.  QPR, nothing.   What did I end up with?  Arsenal kit !!!   Was gutted but I so wanted a football kit.  Obviously hadn't matured !!   But I kept that kit on for 4 days even slept in it.  And couple years later I used to leer at the boots in Duvalls shop window !

Wheelers greengrocers, end of my road. There was also a Hicks greengrocer in Green Lanes about opposite Seymour/ Warham Roads. They used to put on a fabulous shop display at Christmas times.

I used to have a Saturday job at Pearks Grocers about opposite Pemberton Road.

Loved Green Lanes back then.
