I have forgotten what this protest was the result of, and the date of it and perhaps someone can enlighten me. These 4 images are a good record of the protest and I thought, part of our local history.

I started a discussion in the main forum as well, as I thought these pictures were very interesting and also quite relevant to the concerns people have today with protecting trees and green spaces . You can find it here
This was a successful protest in 1989 against the Thatcher government's proposal to build radial roads into central London from north and south. The Parkland Walk was to be the basis for one of these with a motorway running along its length and into Kings Cross, an absurd and thankfully rejected plan which galvanised a campaign involving hundreds of local people. It also, arguably, cost the conservative Sir Hugh Rossi his Hornsey and Wood Green parliamentary seat even though he was opposed to the planned motorway. I've got a file of newspaper cuttings and other material, I guess like many other people from that time, which might be of interest.
