Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Rebuilding Station Place Finsbury Park 1938
I've written before about how Station Place was widened in the 1930s. To achievce the change, the Victorian terrace facing the station entrance was demolished, the corners at both ends being chopped off in the process. A new 1930s terrace was then erected which still stands today. Click the 'station place' tag, below right for more.
This photo was shot on 19th September, 1938 from the railway bridge across Seven Sisters Road, looking across the Road towards Station Place and, in the distance, the old cinema on Stroud Green Road.

Fab photo! Out of curiosity I zoomed in to see what the poster was on the cinema. It's advertising Bebe Daniels in "The Return of Carol Deane", which wasn't released in the UK until August 1938...

I've checked in the 1937 Kelly's and it is still showing the full Victorian terrace. See snippet below. I assume that the 36/38 mix-up was a transposition one.Thanks for helping to set the record straight.
I've also included below the advert referred to at the Gilbert & How entry. Pictures of the old shops can be seen using the tag under the photo above.
