This image was taken looking north. To the right is the site of the present-day Woodlands Park School. The shop in the middle distance stood on the corner of Brampton Road.

This was a bomb site.. with prefabs from the late 1940s until the middle 1960s.
Remember playing in the derelict houses during the late 1950's.
I lived in one of the prefabs, 90 Woodlands Park Rd. c. 1959 to 1966. Must be close to where this picture was taken from. Woodlands Park School was in Blackboy Lane at that time.
Yes the terrace was destroyed to the right of a point between the letters ‘y’ and ‘o’ of the watermark. This is where the school now stands.
As a boy from The Blitz, I went to the school in Blackboy Lane between 1940 /45 . We had our own “War”, twice a year with another school the other side of the park. Summer we had a stone fight and Winter we had snow ( or anything that was handy, to repel the enemy.
My Dad had the Cafe in St. Ann’s road, which I believe is now a vegetable shop. For a number of years ,Dad would provide breakfasts and late night cuppas for the workers at the Ever Ready factory, that was one of the areas targetted by the German bombers.
