And still open, as The Prince, 121 years later!

Having just spent a pleasant evening in The Prince, and looking up its history on its website, I note it refers to: 'Words from the late great Richard Matz'.

Does anyone have any further info about Richard?  I couldn't find anything online.  I didn't know him personally, but he was a local hero in putting a great deal of work into trying to make this pub (and others) into an ACV (Asset of Community Value).

He lived in Partridge Way, just up the road from the pub and was a contributor to this site for a number of years.

With regards to the listing as an asset of community value, it was listed, but the listing has now lapsed.* But thanks to a conversation started here on HoL, The Salisbury pub is listed.

*It was listed in October 2015 and lapsed after 5 years.
