Men, women and children queue for fish along High Road, Wood Green, London. The long queue snakes its way past several other shops, including 'J Wood' the greengrocer and 'Jolly', which sells "cooked provisions ready for the table", such as pies, pastry and sandwiches. Many of the women carry sheets of newspaper which will be used to wrap the fish. Several other people can be seen queuing for the bus on the left of the photograph.

Great pictures. I wonder if that "Jolly" shop was connected to the "Jolly" shop at the bottom of Seymour Road where "The Lion King" is now.
Jolly's in Wood Green were still trading in the 1960s when I was a kid. i remember their meat pies as being particularly tasty!
I think that's 'Bartons' in the backgroundground, but what's that road-works-traffic-island thing in front of the bus stop. Is this about where Green Shield stamps had a showroom, which became a McDonalds?
Having looked at pics further in ,someone confirms my memory of McDonalds so thats reassuring.
