Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Crowds of women line the pavement as they queue for vegetables outside the greengrocer's shop, 'J Wood', at 97-99 High Road, Wood Green. Many have babies in prams. Just visible to the right of the photograph is the shop 'Jolly', which sells "cooked provisions ready for the table", such as pies, pastry and sandwiches.

I remember the name Jolly .. I think there may have been a shop named that in Harringay as well.

This is the shop from the HOL gallery. It was at the junction of Green Lanes and Seymour Road.

Up Seymour Road at 99, lived my dad's brother, Uncle Horace and Auntie Maud. Uncle Horace was much older than dad. A lovely gentle man who had a great knowledge of the (steam) railways - his speciality was signalling.

I remember Jolly's on the corner of Seymour Road. My Gran lived at number 45.
