Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Thanks to Alison Ritchie for this photo and the following comment:

"Tom Ritchie, was a Social Worker and then was instrumental in fund raising and starting the Harringay Club on Tottenham Lane. Sir Charles Clore was a major sponsor.

"This picture shows me aged about 11 at the opening of the club in 1964. My dad, Tom Ritchie, is the bald head and Prince Philip is to his right.

Below is an article from the Hampstead News 26 May 1961 which provides a little history about the club and explains why it is called the Harringay Club.

I well remember the Duke of Edinburgh visiting the Boys’ Club and at the time talking with the Duke on the progress of the number of members who had attained the bronze, silver and goid D of E awards.
