Thanks so much for posting this Hugh! I grew up in Stanhope Gardens, #24. Living in the States now, but did go back to see it about 10 years ago. Good childhood memories during the 50s and 60s.
Is the that Green Lanes up at the top, or are we looking the other way?
If this is looking towards Green Lanes, my house was on the left just by the lamp post.
I'm pretty sure that's facing east with Doncaster Gardens on the right in the mid-distance.
Thanks Hugh.
Hugh my house in Stanhope faced the entrance to Essex Gardens, so it was further down this street.
I guess it was around where the second white sign is on the right?
Nice! Thanks for sharing. And yes, think it’s facing Green Lanes. The house after Portland Gardens in number 14 so you should be able to count down to 24, Meryl.
Does anyone know about the style of clothing the adult in the left foreground is wearing. Is it typical of the day or is it some kind of religious dress? Thanks
My best friend Veronica O’Donoghue lived at 87, opposite the tin hut. We were together at St Mary’s Priory on St Ann’s Road, and at St Angela’s Grammar until her family went back to Ireland in ‘68. We’re still in touch. Helen Kiriacou lived at number 89. I lived on Warwick Gardens.
