Milk bottles in those days seem to be of two types. This type had a wide top and a press-in cardboard top, usually with the same logo as the dairy. The other type which was deliverd to us had a smaller diameter top and an aluminium foil top. Gold for full cream, sometimes called ‘Jersey’ and then there was silver top for ordinary milk. The other milk available was ‘Sterilised’, sold in tall bottles with a crimped-on cap and had a peculiar taste!
