Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Harringay Bridge c1960

Bartons was the major department store in Wood Green from the start of the 20th century until it was closed down by a fire in 1968. The railway bridge across Wood Green High Road used to carry a similar advert.

Comment by Tony on August 6, 2019 at 17:44: I remember as a child in the 70's during the summer holidays getting a train from Harringay stadium to Barking and then changing on to another train from Barking to Southend.

Comment by Peter John Morris on August 9, 2019 at 8:44: I lived in Roseberry Gardens, but as was quite normal it is obscured in the murk! Loving that close to the Stadium meant that I spent many a Saturday night at the Stock Cars. Happy days.

Many a time I would meet her on my regrettably still L-plated motorbike to walk her home. Like you did back then.
