I remember riding a tricycle there and on one occasion was waiting at a red light to turn left at a crossroads.

When the lights changed I duly turned left only to be stopped by an arrogant girl who was going to "Tell on me" for going past a red light. She was not to be told that the light would be red from where she was standing so I decided to ride off at high speed.  So far the Model Traffic Police have not caught up with me!

I remember the smell of the tyres in the bike shed and waiting what seemed an eternity for the bell to ring, telling those on the bikes that their time was up..

We still have three or four of these Model traffic areas, still in use in my city.

Yes that is just how I remember Lordship Lane Park. While I was young I spent most of my waking hours, riding and playing in that Park, we had such great fun all day long, pulse we had good exercise and plenty of " Fresh Air " What a pity they haven't got outdoor areas like that today, instead of Computer Games. What sort of physical exercise is there in that ??????

You'll be pleased to know the Lordship Rec model traffic area is still there.

Thanks James, I'm so glad to hear that good news, so let's hope there are plenty of young children enjoying it as much as I did. ( my last email should have said " Pluse not Pulse " ) I live in Auzzie now, since November 1964

I learnt to ride a bicycle there. Gave me that little bit of extra confidence. 50 years later I am now riding a Kawasaki Z1000. Thank you Lordship Rec.

I live in Buckinghamshire now and remember going here. Small world I was talking to a lady who lives near me and we realised we both went here as children but we couldn't remember where it was. Thank you for solving the problem.
