Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

This church was on the corner of Priory Road and Park Avenue South. The photo above dates from c1905

The painting below shows it after it was hit by a bomb in 1944/45. The artist is Russell Sidney Reeve, 1895–1970. I'm not sure what the water is in the foreground.

A fire station now stands on the site.

That looks like it was taken almost immediately afterwards. It looks like, by the time of Reeve's painting the surviving buttress had been removed and two supports had been put in place.

The thing in the foreground is probably an emergency water supply, examples of which were installed on bomb sites across London as a reserve for fighting future fires caused by the bombing…
