Re. comment by John Dodd, I used the library as a child during the 1950s and remember the books having to be returned within the two-week deadline. The librarian I remember was a tall chap in a check suit whom we called "beardy" for obvious reason and recall the Reading Room which was so quiet you really could heard a pin drop and its train magazines in hard plastic folders
