is that that the salisbury pub on the far left?  if it is then i don't recognize any of the shops.  we lived over tescoes at #5 until 1979.

when i was a kid - i'm talking c1956 i used to work for a man who sold newspapers on the corner outside the pub.  his name was mr. fone, and apart from selling the papers i had a small paper route.  another man also worked there, name of tom.  on cold days he would send me round to a cafe where salisbury road and st. anns road met.  he would give me an enamel jug which would be filled up with tea by the man in the cafe, and i also got him a bacon sandwich.  i can still smell that bacon sandwich now.  round the corner on harringay road was vera nelson who ran a shop which i suppose could be called an antique shop but was really full of trashy items.  next door to the pub was charlie brandons, a ctn.

Stephen:  Who were they?  We were at 5a Brian and Alan Goldfield.  Above us was 5b ans Alec Devlin and his brother - can't remember his name.  At 5c were the constables - Albie, Maureen and maybe a couple of more siblings.  At 6a were the Wilsons - Andrew and Chris.

Brian Granville...........you mention old Vera Nelson.  What a memory, yeh, she lived above her "junk" shop a few yards down  on the right in Harringay Road.  The shop was single storey and had a flat roof and poor old Vera regularly crawled out of her living accomodation onto the flat roof screaming her head off.  There was something not quite right with the poor old girl.   I can vaguely picture her.  She used to sometimes chase us kids away if we were playing up a bit.  I believe she was "taken away" at intervals to recoup.  I lived halfway down Harringay Road between St Anns and Colina Roads.

Many happy memories.
