Comment by Geraldine on June 27, 2014 at 7:39: The bikes were really cheap to hire, perhaps 1d or 2d, and it was a super-safe way to learn to ride, compared with hurling yourself down Seymour Road towards Green Lanes (though I did that too). On Liz's link to the Lordship Rec site, I came across this lovely news clip of the opening in 1938.
