Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Around the North Ladder, Queen's Coronation, 1953 (1 of 4)

The Girl's Life Brigade outside the Methodist Church on Hampden Road.

Irene Neil, who contributed the photo commented, "Gladys Alywood visited us at this church. Her life was later made into the film, Inn of Sixth Happiness, starring Ingrid Bergman. Incidentally, the film also breathed new life into the old children's nonsense song "This Old Man" (aka "Knick, Knack, Paddywhack")".

Part of a collection kindly contributed by Irene Neil. Irene is in the back row on the far left.

Takes me right back. The days of white socks and silly hats.  Why did we think it was normal to wear such strange headgear?!
