Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!
Shop in Tottenham Lane, Crouch End, Nr Rathcoole Gds, Circa 1905
Horace Theodore Burrows, confectioner at 14 Rathcoole Parade, Tottenham Lane, Hornsey.
I'm guessing a bit about location. I originally placed it ion the Pizza Go Go a bit further along Tottenham Lane, but if we assume that Rathcoole Parade started just north of Rathcoole Gardens, then ran on till Montague Road, it would make 14 where the Lane Cafe is today. It looks like the premises above no. 13 may be on a slant which would fit with this location.

I think the second pic has gone too far down.... the brick work on the pillars are still in existance... I recognise it from when I used to go school in Hornsey...

I lived at this address! It was a sweet shop when I moved there in 1947 aged 4. I have a photo of it somewhere.
That's me and my Mum. She ran it and soon realised that it wasn't going to work as sweets were still on ration, so she gradually converted it to a grocers. My job on a weekend was to bone the side of bacon and check the eggs. My father was a fireman but his station was not the one opposite. He still travelled to Bromley on the other side of London every day. My mum sold the shop in 1959.
I don't think this is the same shop as in the other picture. My guess it was much further down Tottenham Lane and was bombed in the war. We naughty kids used to play on its ruins. My hunch it is right where there is now an industrial unit where Colin Chapman started Lotus cars. He used to live in the Railway Tavern by the station.
