Henry Noble, Hornsey Chimney Sweep, c1920

Henry lived at 66 Gordon Road in Hornsey Vale. The road was one of a cluster of streets that ran between Inderwick Road and the back of Rathcole Gardens. All were demolished after the war and Hornsey Girls School was built on the site.

The 1911 census shows him as self-employed. He lived with his wife Catherine, six-year-old son, Henry and four-year-old Grace.

In 1901, Henry and his wife were living in a top floor flat at 104 Alexandra Road, off Turnpike Lane. At ths time he was recorded as being a Journeyman Sweep.

Henry lived till 1929 at which time he was 52 years old. His wife Catherine continued to live in Gordon Road at least until the war, at which point I lose track of her.

From what I can see, the author of the note would have been a Miss Ellen Bannister at number 68 Gordon Road (On the other side of 66 were no next door neighbours. Instead was Enfield Road).
