I grew up in upper Hermitage Road, just off the edge of this image. I always enjoyed wandering through the variety of urban streetscapes in the area - residential, light industrial, New River etc.

And of course the major attractions were Harringay Stadium and Harringay Arena because of all the events and excitement they brought to the area.

As children we had great fun playing in the scrublands around Harringay Stadium - a natural adventure playground which would not pass any "health and safety" inspections - but my parents were delighted to let me explore the area with the other children, and fortunately none of us came to any harm.

Happy Days in 1950s Harringay!
