I grew up in upper Hermitage Road, just off the edge of this image. I always enjoyed wandering through the variety of urban streetscapes in the area - residential, light industrial, New River etc.
And of course the major attractions were Harringay Stadium and Harringay Arena because of all the events and excitement they brought to the area.
As children we had great fun playing in the scrublands around Harringay Stadium - a natural adventure playground which would not pass any "health and safety" inspections - but my parents were delighted to let me explore the area with the other children, and fortunately none of us came to any harm.
Happy Days in 1950s Harringay!
I was born in 1951. My parents and elder sister were already living in 53 Beechfield Road. The house was on the junction of Beechfield and Oakdale Road and can be seen at the very top left hand corner of this photo. We had the large fenced garden which has now had another house built on it. I agree with Patrick, they were happy days we were out all day exploring the area and never came to any harm.
