What a wonderful conglomeration of memories all above creates of "home".  I know I responded 6 years ago but this has rekindled everything again ;  I was born in Harringay Road 1949. In order of mentioning I remember the newspaper stand, the milk machine, the fish and chip shop, the seafood stall, the 171 bus, introduction of one way system and pelican (?) crossing, Woodlands park schools, having a paper round up and down the 'hills' (as we called it) now the Ladder,  the cafe on St Anns at bottom of Salisbury Road. And the trams, note the overhead lines clearly visible in pic. Looks like the lad crossing road might be sporting a drape jacket (Teddy Boys era) probably bought from Silvers the tailors. Used to buy the occasional Saturday night treat pop and crisps from Salisbury off licence, only went in the pub a handful of times on reaching that age but I noticed Double Diamond ad above front entrance. I thought that came into being in the 60's but obviously not. Well I've waffled on enough but thanks again.  Keep 'em coming.  Please.

Super clear memories from you, John.  Though there are eight years between us there were few changes in those years.  I grew up in the last house at the bottom of Seymour Road, next door to Jolly's the Grocers and right opposite the Salisbury. I remember Silvers the taylors and the seafood stall outside the Salisbury with its crabs, whelks and jellied eels.  The sense of smell is one of our strongest memory-joggers.  I can still smell the Salisbury and that seafood stall.
