Geraldine Taylor-Thomas what number Seymour Road as my Grandparents and Aunt and Uncle lived at number 45 from 1944 until I think late 70's.

Hi Christine, It was number 135, the first house on the right as you walk up from Green Lanes.  Though your family were a few doors away we may have known each other, maybe from school.  My surname was Whitaker and I was known as Cherry, the reason being that Gerry wasn't a good name to give someone during the War!

Interesting - did you know the Beavers at 105 (7)? Pamela and i 'walked out' in the early 60s!

105 would have been past the alleys on the left walking down, and 45, I'd guess, was about halfway between Wightman and the alleys.  I remember Pam Beaver quite well, though she was a couple of years younger than me.

That's it - she had a younger brother John who played soccer with my brother. She married in about 1962 and lives over near Dovercourt now.

Yes, Geraldine 45 was up on the right passed the alleyway.  But I used to go to school with a girl that lived opposite you.  I cannot remember the number but her surname was Chinsky.  She now lives in Kent. She had a younger brother Clive and her parents had another daughter I think her name was Caroline.

I seem to remember that family, though we perhaps didn't go to the same schools.  Harringay was a fairly close-knit community in those days.  During the war, I remember just mums and kids.  There weren't many men around.  Some fathers came back later but still there were a few single parent families left.  We never knew why and didn't ask questions.

Geraldine this would have been in the 1950's we went to South Harringay infants and juniors together. Yes, it was a very close-knit community.  I wasnt born until 1949 but my sister who is 7 years older does remember those times. She went to school at infants and juniors in St Annes' Road, was that Downhills not sure now.

I lived at 8 Warwick Gardens from 1955 to 1976. I had friends at 87 Stanhope Gardens and 91 Roseberry Gardens. My lifelong friend's Mum still lives at 313 St Ann's Road.

Chestnut School was in St Ann's Road opposite the park.
