Harringay, Haringey - So Good they Spelt it Twice!

Fascinating that we see there seems originally to have been some shops or a pub, half way along Hampden Road

The buildings I think were shops or a pub were in the location where these four houses now stand:

Thanks - so maybe shops rather than a big ole boozer then.

In France the Planes of course are also pruned to provide summer shade - produces some brilliant results. But the lime trees disappeared I bet due to the resin they deposited on cars? BTW pleach and plash from Old French plaissier (pleasure) , based on Latin plectere 'to plait.

Sounds like we may have a bit of history on this shop now. I just spotted the following on another posting (another poster identified the location as Hampden):

Up the alleyways before Frobisher Road (not sure where now) there was a grocers shop on the corner. I worked there after school and at weekends as a delivery boy and at Christmas helped with dressing the freshly delivered chickens in the back store room - it wouldn't be allowed today.
