London's new "Rotten Row" - three-quarter mile backlog of rubbish in Finsbury Park waiting to be cleared from the emergency dump used during the dustmen's strike. It is expected that it will take at least a fortnight to clear all the dumps.

At that time we lived in a first floor flat halfway up Endymion Road, so that was our daily outlook. Thanks for the reminder (I think!).
I lived in Hewitt Road in a ground floor flat. We seemed to have a lot less waste in those days as my weekly black sack, plus one from the upstairs flat, just filled our tiny front garden during the 13 week strike, saving us having to carry them to Turnpike Lane where the whole common was just one great dump.
