I would guess at late 1930s in connection with the never-to-be-completed "Northern Heights" electrification.

Yes, it certainly is Stephen. The ST and STL double deckers seen parked up, were all withdrawn from service by the 1950s. The last in fact in 1949. I guess the photo is pre-1939.
The cream tiled buildings that were constructed on the building site here would have complemented the never completed underground station facade. The Northern Heights underground extension was abandoned in the early 50s and the steam service over the line was discontinued in 1954.
Imagine how full those trains from Finsbury Park to Crouch Hill and Muswell Hill would be nowadays.

Actually, parked right at the front of the buses is an NS Type (Wwith the open staircase), which last saw service in 1937.
London Transport's New Works Programme https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Works_Programme was conceived in 1935, so that I guess would date this photo to 1936/37.
