I also remember there being a service station in West Green Rd between Alfoxton Ave and Harringay Rd. I think it was on the corner of St. Margaret's Ave with a café on the other corner.

The service station was situated exactly as Tony describes.  The site was previously occupied by a scrap yard - I used to walk past it every day on my way to primary school.  The café on the other corner was popular with the local builders.

Talking of sites where there used to be a service station what about the one in Wightman Rd on the corner of Hampden Rd with an off licence on the opposite corner and newsagents on the other side of Wightman where station mansions is.
