Top left of the picture it looks like a crucifix attached to the chimney stack of the pub.
It does. Is that something you know anything about, Tony?
Sorry, I don't know anything about this. This is the first time I have seen this when it caught my eye earlier. I don't ever recall there being a church there, it was always a pub which I think was known as either the Queens head or the nags head, I can't remember which. The other one was on the corner of Frobisher Rd. It would be interesting to see if there are other pictures taken after this that show if the cross is still there.
Could it just be metal reinforcement to stop the chimney falling down ?
I think you're probably right John unless anyone else knows any different.
I have just looked on google street view and the "crucifix" is still there on the Naggs Head for you to inspect
!
in the very centre of the photo are the "tramsheds"- bus garage as now. Is something being demolished between there and the "library" on the corner ? its hard to see ?
