Fascinating that we see there seems originally to have been some shops or a pub, half way along Hampden Road
The buildings I think were shops or a pub were in the location where these four houses now stand:

There were two shops on the corners of Hampden and Wightman. One, on the South-east corner, was Lundies' off licence and closed a few years ago to be converted into flats. Mr and Mrs Lundie still live there, in retirement. On the opposite, South-west, corner was a newsagents / stationers. They closed because they couldn't stand the constant pilfering by schoolchildren and the premises then became a carpet shop for several years. The shop is now empty and has been shuttered for some time.
Hi Irene, Tomalins! Yes indeed. And I do remember the fish box lady. In fact I think she was the last house on our (even side) of Frobisher before the alley - and that is what we always called it, even though it is now universally called The Passage. In fact was she not the lady in charge of the concentrated orange, cod liver oil and national dried in the 40s? So were you at North Harringay then?
Your comment about pilfering rings very true - there was a complete black market in nicked sweets from that shop. Jubblies... frozen Jubblies...
Mrs Bunce issued the dried milk and orange next to the alley on the even side. You can see a photo of Mrs Bunce in my 50's photos. I lived in Frobisher and went to North Harringay School
and Mary lived next to Chrissie Bunce
So we were contemporaries? Rude question to a lady and ignore if you want but when were you born?
I and my brother are in the parade somewhere. I was 10 and he was 5. I recall him wearing cowboy gear but I think I wore my mum's pirate costume. Weird but I cannot recall many faces although the girl in the front row left end of the indoor picture clasping her knees could be Pamela Beaver.
second in with black hair is me Irene Withey born in 1941 lived at 61 by the alley
So two years older than me - just enough for us to 'miss' each other. Fine looking young gal if I may be so bold - I sure would have remembered.
