Thanks Hugh yes great to see some photos, did I remember it wrong I thought it was Downhills Park and not Lordship Park.

I would guess most of us went there at some time. Certainly I did my cycling proficiency there. Make you think however - that somehow back then we were able to provide such vital training for youngsters and fail to do so today! Sad world we have built.

Totally agree, Richard.  Compared with today we didn't have a lot of material things but - probably for that reason - we grasped every opportunity to get out, enjoy ourselves, and above all learn how to cope with the adult world we were about to find ourselves in.

Reginald.  It was Downhills, I think.

On the name thing - we always thought that the southern part was Downhills Park and the northern Lordship Recreation Ground.
