The Piccadilly line station opened in 1932. In March 1933, the Prince of Wales (the future short-reigning Edward VIII), drove a Piccadilly Line train From Manor House Station station, under Harringay and up to Wood Green.
The picture above shows him emerging at Wood Green Station. From there, he apparently hailed a passing cab to travel back to the centre of Town.
It seems that royalty had something of an affinity with Manor House. Just 90 years earlier, his great grandmother, Queen Victoria, had stopped at the Manor House Tavern with Albert whilst they were on their way to Cambridge by coach.
The only newspaper report about the 1933 visit that I've been able to track down comes from the Lethbridge Herald of March 18, 1933.

With regard to Royalty in Harringay I have a vision of a memory in which a female member of the Royal Family (??) visiting and parading from around Manor House down Green Lanes area accompanied by a services marching band. Would love to have this memory proven or disproven to clear my memories.
The above mentioned would have been mid fifties I suspect.
The Queen came a number of times to the Horse of the Year show at the Arena. I’ve never heard of her going walkabout though.
