Thank you Dick Harris - I live at the southern end of the Ladder by Railway Fields and haven't seen one of these for a good few years so it's a good reminder to me to keep on looking out for them - currently my local "will you look at that!" is the occasional jay.
Great photo!
I'm at the north end of the ladder and I have one that comes by around 3-4 times a day to feed. The sight of his almost carton like colouring still makes me stop and watch until he flies off.
Came by to mine too, last week. Didn't manage a decent photo but I was delighted to have seen one!
Ignored the suet balls and went for the peanuts instead.
A beautiful sight. We back on to St Ann's Hospital and get occasional visits from a woodpecker to our nut feeder -- always a joy.
Great photo Dick. I just saw one in Fairlands Park, prompted by the noise. I am no expert but it had distinct black and white markings so perhaps also a great spotted woodpecker. Amazing noise!
