I vaguely remember those shops, but i do remember the fish & chips shop in between Falkland and Fairfax roads. Also the grocery shop ( before supermarkets) the name escapes me, but the son first name again escapes me but I do remember his surname it was Quantrill. Also on the same block on the corner of Fairfax Road the Sunday School with the cream colour painted glass windows. Do you remember Harris's Domestic Stores in between Effingham Road and Beresford Road it was an after school and Saturday job for me at the tender age of 13 and later I worked at a briar pipe makers factory in Crouch End.
It appears to be sparkling in the sun ❤️
The Queen’s Head looks regal with the tower opposite Ducketts Common. Anyone been into the tower?
It used to be a ‘dive’ of a pub when I was a child. Spit and sawdust as it was described by my mum and grandad. From memory, in the 60s individual rooms above the pub were rented by migrants from Ireland who went on to build England.
Great photos tim p. Those trees on Ducketts Common seem to have bushed out greatly from my memories of 1950's-60's.
