Here are some photos taken as city employees were clearing up a park in Gothenburg at the end of a week during which it had been filled with rides, stalls, activity tents and restaurants.
I visited the town on 16-18th August and, by chance, the Gothenburg Culture Festival finished on 16th. There were many locations and activities throughout the city. The pictures were taken in a kind of mini Kew Gardens called Trädgårds föreningen which is near the centre of the city (Google maps 57.705104, 11.975089). This particular location had been given over to children’s activities.
Most of the temporary installations had been put up on grass areas and it seems that every part of the grass inside and outside the tents where extra large numbers of people might walk had been covered with red carpet or heavy plastic matting either in green rolls or in large white inter-locking sections.
When we walked through the park on 17th, the clear-up was well in hand. The photos show the pale stripes left on the grass where the matting had been removed. The stacks of white sections were waiting to be collected. Some tents remained. A couple of guys are wheeling away great rolls of green matting.
