My father used to work for the Thames water authority formerly known as the Metropolitan water board and used to use the yard where this building was located.
Not far from here a much loved Woods family car went to its end at the scrap yard - year of the MoT. It was a Standard 12 of 1938 vintage (but mothballed until 1946) and was owned successively by my grandfather, my mother, my elder brother and finally me. By which time the offside rear wing was held on with baling wire. "Nice piece of knitting" said PC Percy as he explained the route to the scrap yard.
My Father-in-Law, Ted Carter, worked there.
